Subscription and Billing Management

In Payara Cloud, a subscription serves as the fundamental billing unit, encompassing the resources and access levels you’ve selected for your cloud deployment needs. It acts as the focal point for billing, consolidating all application usage across various namespaces into a single, easy-to-understand invoice. The subscription model simplifies the billing process, providing a clear and aggregated view of your Payara Cloud usage and costs.

Choosing a Subscription Plan

Payara Cloud offers three subscription plans tailored to different needs, each with its own set of features and resource allocations. The available plans are:

  • Pay as You Go: Provides essential features for deploying and managing applications includes additional features such as custom domain support. This plan is ideal for small applications or users who want to pay only for the resources they consume.

  • Standard: Includes all the features of Pay as You Go plan with increased resource limits which allows horizontal scaling ability.

  • Premium: Includes all the features of the Standard plan, plus access to Payara Micro Enterprise binaries for local development and expedited support from the Payara team.

The specific resource allocations and pricing for each plan can be found on the Payara Cloud website or by contacting the Payara sales team.

Managing Subscriptions

You can view and manage your existing subscriptions through the Billing Management section in Payara Cloud. There, you can perform various actions, including:

  • Viewing Subscription Details: Access information about your current subscription plan, resource usage, and billing details.

  • Upgrading or Downgrading: Change your subscription plan to a higher or lower tier based on your evolving needs.

Subscription Plan Changes (Upgrade/Downgrade)

You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription plan at any time through Billing management section in Payara Cloud.

Payara Cloud will not allow subscription downgrade if you have exceeded the vCPU quota.

Subscription Plan Change Cancellation

  • Subscription Upgrade: Since the upgrade takes effect immediately, it cannot be cancelled once initiated.

  • Subscription Downgrade: The downgrade will take effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and you can cancel the downgrade request before the end of the billing cycle through Billing Management section in Payara Cloud.

Subscription Plan Change Email Notification

Payara Cloud will send email notifications to Billing Managers for any subscription plan changes activity.

  • 1. When a subscription plan change is confirmed, an email notification will be sent to the Billing Manager.

  • 2. When there is a payment failure for a subscription plan change, an email notification will be sent to the Billing Manager.

  • 3. When a subscription plan change is cancelled, an email notification will be sent to the Billing Manager.

Billing and Invoicing

Invoices include:

  • Fixed Monthly Fee: Charged in advance for the upcoming billing period, based on the chosen subscription plan

  • Variable Fee: Covers any usage that exceeds your plan’s prepaid volume in the previous billing period.

  • Consumption Measurement: Billing is primarily based on vCPU-minutes, with each plan offering a certain amount of prepaid vCPU-minutes per month.
