Upgrade Advisor Tool
The Upgrade Advisor is a special Maven Plugin utility tool that offers developer advice about specific changes introduced in Jakarta EE 10 that affect Jakarta EE 8 applications and are necessary for these applications to be upgraded successfully.
The purpose of the tool is to summarize all changes that affect your application based on breaking changes introduced in the different Jakarta EE specifications by report log entries that indicate how the code of the application is affected and how it should be modified to be in full compliance of the Jakarta EE 10 specifications.
Usage
As with any other Maven plugins, the upgrade advisor can be run directly from the command line without any extra configuration required.
The tool is freely available in Maven Central. |
To run the upgrade advisor, you must go to the root of your project folder and execute the following command:
mvn fish.payara.advisor:advisor-maven-plugin:1.0:advise
The advisor then will output its summary details:

Structure of the Advisor’s Summary
The issues reported by the advisor’s summary output will follow this structure, in order:

On the first line:

Indicates the location of this occurrence in the code.
- Expression

The Java code expression or statement that triggered the occurrence of the advisory.
